The death of Jesus is for too many of us out-of-sight and so therefore out-of-mind. It is shockingly easy for the Christian to become side-tracked and deceived to sacrifice the best thing for some good things. And we are sometimes the main culprits in deceiving ourselves because no one likes to admit they are all-that (and a bag of chips).
The love of God as displayed in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus IS the best thing! We must properly orient all other treasures in our life to either be encompassed by God’s love or jettisoned from our gaze. For this free gift of salvation is the most costly blessing there is.
