There may be no greater attribute in our fellowship that displays a mutual love and care for one another than peace. Biblical peace preserves the unity of Christ’s body as believers pursue reconciliation, humility, and harmony with one another.
Observations & Conclusions:
- Gods peace isn’t worldly peace
- Gods peace is actionable
- Gods peace depends on you
- Gods peace follows grace
Application:
- Treat everyone as God has treated you
– Do I look to my standards or Gods?
– Do I seek peace with others or wait on them?
– Is God depending on me?
– Am I overcoming evil with good?
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Colossians 3:13-15
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. 1 Peter 3:8-12
“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
