The Assignment of the Holy Spirit

The Assignment of the Holy Spirit

Have you ever experienced the difficulty of having to live together with someone else other than me, myself, and I?! No matter the difficulty we can all give testimony to, there is little argument to the fact that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit must be at times the most difficult cohabitation in history. Praise the Lord that He never leaves or forsakes us!

Today we will examine the nature of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling ministry and “assignment” to believers, to see that God has made a way for us to pursue Christlikeness from the inside-out.

Romans 8:9-11

“You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.”

1. Control – the active influence of Christlikeness
2. Custody – the proof belonging to Christ
3. Conversion – the reanimation of your spirit
4. Commitment – the recreation of your body: resurrection

2 Corinthians 13:5

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”

Galatians 2:20

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Colossians 1:27

“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

1 John 4:13

“This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.”

It is not how much of the Spirit do you have?
Its how much of you does the Spirit have?
