The creation speaks of God’s power and nature. Nowhere is this vision of God’s ability and design more necessary in our lives, than when we’re facing trials and pain. Even when we are rocked by the curse of this world, Jesus is still on the throne.
Observations:
- Creation makes the invisible God known
- Creation reveals the limits of our knowledge
- The proper response to creation is humility
- God purposefully miniaturizes creation
- Physical creation participates in a larger spiritual order
- Sometimes suffering needs a vision of God’s majesty as the only medicine
- God’s majesty teaches us to trust beyond what we can understand
Conclusions:
- God has revealed himself accessibly in creation, but He is not creation
- Your view of God is directly proportional to your fussing
- It is good to know the why and how, but it is better to know the who
Application:
- Pursue the art of discovery for the purpose of knowing God
- Trust that there is a design behind creation, just as there is a design behind what happens to you, even if you can’t understand it
- Cry out to a big God
