Gemstones: Grace

Gemstones: Grace

We must understand the truths of our faith from what God’s word says, and not from how our culture defines them.  The Grace of God is something that is freely given and freely received, but yet extremely costly.

Romans 3:10-12

10 As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11     there is no one who understands;
    there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
    they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
    not even one.”

Observations:

1. – God’s Grace isn’t limited by sin

– Grace brings a gift

2. – God’s Grace isn’t diminished by sin

– Grace brings justification

3. God’s Grace isn’t withheld by sin

– Grace bring righteousness

4. God’s Grace isn’t exhausted by sin

– Grace brings life

 Conclusion:

1. You have been given:

A Gift:
(1) A right standing before God = Justification
(2) The Righteousness of Christ
(3) The Promise of Eternal Life

2. Ain’t nothing free!

The cost of Grace is the cross

Philippians 2:8

“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!”

Application:

Receive God’s gift

Return all credit, honor, and praise to the name above all names

Romans 3:23-24

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

Titus 3:4-7

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”

1 Corinthians 15:9-10

“For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”
