Our Light

Jesus is the light of the world and the one who brings God and mankind together. If we truly believe what He says and what God has revealed we will reflect God’s light to carry on Jesus’ illumination into the world.

Observations:

  1. “Word” means Jesus Christ
  2. John teaches about Jesus’ nature
    A. Jesus was before the beginning
    B. Jesus and the Father are separate people
    C. Overall they are the same God
  3. John teaches that Jesus is the Creator
  4. John teaches about Jesus’ purpose

Conclusions:

  1. Jesus is fully God and distinct from the Father
  2. Jesus made all things as Creator
  3. Jesus’ purpose is a light for all humanity

Application:

  1. Trust and Obey
  2. Value everything and everyone
  3. Honor Jesus and love others

John 1:14

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Mark 1:9-11

“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. Hebrews 1:1-2

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”
