Nehemiah: For the Covenant of the Community

Nehemiah: For the Covenant of the Community

God’s Word must play a central role in the life of each Christian. For years the church has not enjoyed the privilege of having the Scriptures in such abundance as it does today. Perhaps it is this profusion which has led many to take God’s Word for granted and leave it undisturbed and dusty.

At today’s point in the story, Nehemiah has finished the walls, and as a point of central importance the people now clamor for Ezra to read God’s Word to them. We will see how this desire produces in them a treasuring for the story of redemption and a intentional pledge of commitment to live out the covenant of God.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.

Key #1 – Commitment to the Word of God
Key #2 – Comprehension and Understanding
Key #3 – Community Unity and Care
Key #4 – Covenant Keeping and Conviction in Action

Application:
It all begins with God’s Word
How often do you read God’s Word?
When you read it, what percentage do you understand?
Of what you understand, how much do you obey?
 COME TO JESUS.
