Implications for Unity among God’s People

Implications for Unity among God’s People

The way we live our lives often speaks louder than our words. As Christians we must see our faith as the essential component of our new identity in Christ, and therefore in obedience to God’s Spirit living in us we may see suffering as natural outcome of a new nature living in a cursed world.

Observations and Conclusions:

  1. Your walk becomes your reputation
  2. Your walk centers around the gospel
  3. Your walk is to be a sign
  4. Your walk is patterned after Christ
  5. Your walk is shared

Application:
Adjust your walk

  1. Make changes to correct poor conduct
  2. Look to Jesus as your example and guide. Listen to the Holy Spirit.
  3. Make an effort and set aside time to develop spiritual growth.

John 13:35

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Colossians 3:12-15

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

1 Peter 2:12

“Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”

1 Peter 2:21

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”

1 Corinthians 12:26

“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”
